The 2019 Honda Civic in Albuquerque has always been a popular choice among sedan buyers, but so has the 2019 Kia Forte. For the 2019 model year, these two excellent entries go head to head to snag the top spot in a crowded segment. Find out which sedan will stand out as the superior choice.
Safety Comparison
The 2019 Kia Forte is equipped with specially-designed Active Headrests which protect passengers from whiplash. In the event of a collision, this headrest system moves forward to lower the risk of spine and neck injuries. This whiplash protection system is not yet available on the 2019 Honda Civic.
Another important safety feature that the Honda Civic doesn’t offer is the cross path warning system. Standard on the Forte Sedan EX, this feature will alert the driver of approaching vehicles using a wide-angle radar, significantly reducing potential collisions from the side.
According to the NHTSA, falling asleep at the wheel is one of the top reasons for car crashes. The Forte’s driver alert monitor can detect inattentive drivers and will issue a warning to suggest taking a break. There’s no driver alert monitor on the Honda Civic.
For its excellent performance in crash tests, the Kia Forte received the highest rating possible from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety — Top Safety Pick Plus. Only 28 vehicles earned this distinction. Unfortunately, the 2019 Hinda Civic did not receive the same stellar scores.
Finally, the 2019 Kia Forte is equipped with many state-of-the-art safety technologies such as crash mitigating brakes, traction control, rear parking sensors, rear-view cameras, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, lane departure warning systems, and daytime running lights.
