Unfortunately, if you are the type to spend a lot of time driving (either for work or errands) or if you drive around with kids or pets, you’ll find it next to impossible to keep your vehicle clean all the time. Of course, you can always deep clean your car every other week, but who has the time to do an arduous, tedious task that frequently?
Luckily, Kia near Rio Rancho has compiled a list of time-saving hacks that will allow you to enjoy your clean car just a bit longer.
Don’t let clutter win.
Most drivers are guilty of letting rubbish accumulate in their cars, especially when they are too busy with other important things. However, the easiest way to make your spring cleaning efforts last longer is to nip the cause of clutter in the bud. Crumpled receipts, disposable coffee cups, takeaway packaging, drink bottles, and empty candy wrappers have no place in your car.
Practice cleaning as you go to rid your car of all the rubbish. If possible, you can even put a small trash bin or bag inside your vehicle to be a lot easier to collect and empty its contents at the end of the day.
Keep a car cleaning kit in your trunk.
You might have heard of car emergency kits, but are you aware of car cleaning kits? A car cleaning kit mainly consists of items that you can find in an ordinary household. Cleaning rags, microfiber cloth, wet wipes, a small spray bottle, and a bottle of rubbing alcohol can help you keep your dashboard sparkling clean. You should also include a small bottle of cleaning solution for glass and plastic surfaces and an old toothbrush to remove dirt from hard-to-reach places. Add a small squeegee and some tapered foam tips (to clean the air vents), and you’ll have a perfect car cleaning kit. Put them all in a small bag and tuck them away in your trunk.
Make it a habit to wipe your car’s interior regularly. It will save you a lot of headaches (and hard work) the next time you spring clean.
Use a cupcake liner to protect your cup holder.
Drivers who love coffee know the perils of keeping a hot cup of joe inside their moving vehicle. It often leads to gross, sticky stains on the car’s cup holders, which are difficult to remove. The best thing to do is put some coaster over your cup holder to prevent it from getting dirty. Silicone cupcake liners are perfect for the job since they are an ideal fit with cup holders, plus they are easy to clean. They will also not stick with the dirty cup holder (unlike paper liners), making them easier to remove and replace if needed.
Refrain from parking under a tree.
Car experts will always tell you to park under a shade to protect your car’s paint from the harsh ultraviolet rays. However, if you have a choice, avoid parking under a tree. Aside from safety issues (like the possibility of a falling branch), leaves, flowers, pollen, and other debris can easily make your newly cleaned car need another wash. Also, you are more likely to get some bird droppings dirtying your vehicle when parked under a tree.
