When the three-row Kia Sorento was redesigned in 2021, the Sorento Hybrid model was also introduced. Its excellent fuel economy, larger size, and efficient powertrain made the hybrid a welcome addition to the lineup. Still, the absence of a top-tier trim option, like the one on the gas-powered model, was a definite downside. The 2023 Kia Sorento Hybrid near Santa Fe NM took care of that problem by adding the new premium SX Prestige trim. However, it comes with a drawback, because the company has dropped the base S trim for the upcoming year, making the EX trim the most affordable selection. The lowest starting price is now $37,885, which includes the destination fee.
What’s New for 2023?
As stated, the Sorento Hybrid S is no more, and the EX has become the entry-level model. The EX has also acquired a standard 8-way power front passenger seat and a frameless rearview mirror. Everything else is pretty much a carryover from 2022, with the new SX-P trim being the exception. The Hybrid SX Prestige brings premium materials and increased comfort (such as Bose audio, perforated leather, heated and ventilated first and second rows) to the cabin, as well as standard AWD, a power liftgate, tech upgrades, and enhanced safety and driver-assist features. Available options for the SX-P include a two-tone white & blue interior, a panoramic sunroof, and some premium paint colors.
Power and Performance
All 2023 Sorento Hybrid models get their power from a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 44-kilowatt electric motor and 1.5-kWh battery. Mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission, this setup can deliver up to 227 horsepower with 258 lb-ft of torque. The EX trim comes standard with front-wheel drive, with AWD as an option, while all-wheel drive is standard on the SX-P version. The AWD system comes with Drive Mode Select, including Comfort, Eco, Smart, and Sport modes, along with Snow mode for the SX-P.
You’ll get better fuel economy in the front-wheel drive EX, with a 39/35/37 MPG city/highway/combined EPA rating. All-wheel drive decreases the MPG rating to 34/36/33. In addition to the 2023 Kia Sorento Hybrid near Santa Fe NM, the company also offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and a gasoline-powered version.

Both the EX and the SX-P get an infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and built-in navigation, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, pushbutton start with Smart key and remote start, and seven USB ports among the three rows. Sirius XM® Satellite Radio, Bluetooth with Voice Recognition, a front console USB data port, steering wheel-mounted controls and two 12V power ports (front console and cargo area) are also standard equipment for both. The SX Prestige trim gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 115V Power Inverter in the cargo area, and much more, too much to list here!
Standard safety and driver-assist features include auto emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning system, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and auto lane-centering. Rear occupant alert, adaptive cruise control, and safe exit assist are also standard on both trims. Choose the SX-P, and you’ll also get a 360° camera with blind-spot monitoring.
