2021 Kia K5 near Santa Fe NM is a Head Turner

Although the family sedan seems to be an endangered species, Kia has created a sleek looking blend of sportiness and luxuriousness in the 2021 Kia K5 near Santa Fe NM, and it's a real head-turner. Slotting into the Kia lineup to replace the Kia Optima, the midsize K5 offers a bold design and real comfort at a bargain price.

With its wider and lower stance, fastback roofline, and additional length, the K5 is a much different type of sedan than the Optima; one that's been tuned for sportier driving dynamics. Its exterior has a new, more daring design that looks fast even when standing still.

Five trim levels are offered in the 2021 Kia K5 near Santa Fe NM line-up, with two different turbocharged engines. The high-end GT trim will debut later this year and is expected to be much more powerful.

2021 Kia K5 near Santa Fe NM: GT Line

A distinction must be made between the GT-Line trim and the GT model K5. The GT-Line is a sporty, mid-range trim that is available now. The GT trim is a more powerful, performance-based model that will likely launch this summer or at least before the year's end.

While the outside is aggressive and flashier looking, the inside is sophisticated and comfortable. The 2021 Kia K5 near Santa Fe NM is spacious and so stylish inside it could be mistaken for a luxury sedan. There's a mix of upscale and less expensive materials in the cabin, although really more upscale than budget. The dash is visually interesting with a unique, dual level design with options between faux wood or faux aluminum. High quality plastics are used, along with many modern patterns.

The front seats are thickly cushioned with mild bolstering, and have lots of adjustment for finding the perfect position. There's a large touchscreen positioned towards the driver so that the entire area feels like a cockpit, and all the buttons and controls are arranged within easy reach for front-seat passengers. The rear seats will accommodate most adults and child car seats, but the sloping roofline takes away some headroom, making the space a little tight for tall passengers in the back.

Driving the K5 is engaging and easy. Steering and braking are responsive and predictable. It also remains comfortable and quiet on long drives. It takes about 7 seconds to get from 0 to 60 mph, and once you're up to speed, passing is no problem.

Simplicity and functionality make a successful infotainment system, and the 2021 Kia K5 near Santa Fe NM has done just that. It's responsive, with no lag, and the colors are crisp and the menus are clear. A 10.25-inch touchscreen, navigation, and wireless charging can be had with the Special Edition Package.

The K5 is standard equipped with lane departure alert, lane keep and lane following assist, lead-vehicle departure alerts, and rear occupant alerts. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, and safe exit assist is added to the list with the GT-Line.

The 2021 Kia K5 is an excellent rival to the usual midsize sedans, and its price and features should be a big draw to new car shoppers. Although the sedan may be a vanishing breed, Kia isn't giving up by any means. Schedule a test drive at Fiesta Kia, located at 7400 Lomas Blvd NE in Albuquerque to experience the new K5.
